About the workshop
Anger is often viewed as something to suppress or avoid. When understood and directed effectively, it can become a powerful catalyst for meaningful change.
Dr. Mitch Abrams presents an honest, evidence-informed approach to recognizing, understanding and utilizing anger in ways that support personal and professional goals.
Breakfast, coffee and tea are provided.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Differentially define anger, aggression, violence, and hostility, and explain the distinct psychological and behavioral functions of each construct in clinical and everyday settings.
- Describe the physiological, cognitive, and environmental factors that influence emotional intensity and identify how excessive or insufficient anger can impair judgment, decision-making, relationships, and performance.
- Apply the "Adjust the Flame" model and related evidence-based interventions to help clients regulate emotional intensity, harness anger as a source of motivation and resilience, and achieve an optimal level of arousal for peak performance without "burning up" through reactive, self-defeating, or destructive behavior.
