CAPP welcomes all

CAPP welcomes psychologists of all backgrounds and experiences. We’re committed to cultural sensitivity, racial and ethnic diversity, and an inclusive professional community across Cincinnati. We welcome and support differences in race, sexual orientation, spirituality, disability, age, size, and gender.

Why join CAPP?

Get to know fellow Cincinnati psychologists, build referral relationships, and find support throughout your career.

Continuing education with a community

Learn something useful for your practice while spending time with colleagues. Build new skills and refresh your knowledge at CAPP’s in-person workshops and dinner meetings, with CE credits, opportunities to meet referral partners, and often food and drinks. Smaller consultation groups on specific topics also meet monthly and can earn you 1 hour of CE credit. Members receive discounted registration.

Help people find your practice

Connect with clients and fellow professionals through CAPP's online directory and referral service. Eligible members can also be listed in CAPP's printed directory, which goes to as many as 1,500 local professionals every other year, and can buy advertising space in it. Your member account lets you manage your public profile and account settings, and the website provides registration for continuing education events.

Find colleagues, collaborators, and mentors

Get to know local psychologists at social events, dinner meetings, and workshops. Students and early-career members can build mentoring relationships with experienced colleagues, while newly licensed psychologists have the opportunity to be paired with a mentor for guidance on establishing a practice. Share ideas, find collaborators, and enjoy a community of peers.

Share your expertise and build visibility

Suggest topics for CAPP dinner meetings and workshops, or volunteer to speak about your specialty. Share your knowledge with the wider community through CAPP's Speakers' Bureau. Members can also have a photograph taken at a CAPP event for use in their own advertising.

Stay informed about your profession

Read CAPP's quarterly online newsletter for updates on insurance and managed care, billing, ethical issues, educational opportunities, therapy and educational groups, and Ohio Psychological Association news. Committee updates also cover CAPP programs, membership, public relations, and upcoming social events.

Support psychologists and the profession

Join a professional community that advocates for its members and fair treatment of psychologists. CAPP works to encourage accurate portrayals in the media and guard against unethical or false practices.

Online and printed directory listings

CAPP's online directory helps clients and professionals find member psychologists using information about specialties, treatment approaches, populations and ages served, location, and languages spoken. Listings are reserved for eligible CAPP members; student affiliate members are not listed in the online directory.

The printed directory lists licensed psychologist members and includes practice interests, addresses, office phone and fax numbers, a geographic locator, and a specialty cross-reference. Affiliate members are not included. It goes out every other year to as many as 1,500 area professionals and organizations, including psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, hospitals, attorneys, and businesses. Members may purchase advertising space.

How the referral service works

CAPP maintains a referral and information service for its members. Referrals take account of the people served, specialty, and geographic area. The service aims to provide callers with the names and office phone numbers of three members and encourages callers to contact them to find a suitable match. CAPP makes every effort to rotate the names provided.

Community speaking opportunities

CAPP's Speakers' Bureau receives requests from schools, churches, civic organizations, and businesses. You can choose to be contacted about these opportunities. Speaking through this service is a community contribution, with no fee or honorarium requested.

When a request comes in, CAPP's administrative assistant contacts members to find an interested speaker. If you are interested, you receive the organization’s contact name and phone number to arrange the details directly.
