Workshop Description: This in-person workshop equips psychologists with tools to navigate evolving practice demands. Topics include inclusive care, safe use of social media, effective communication skills for disagreement, and updates on Medicaid. Participants will also gain advocacy training, teaching psychologists how to engage with their representatives, and provide direct access to the state representative on key committees, including Medicaid, Health, and Finance. Inspired in part by APA CEO Arthur Evans JR, PhD’s call to “take psychology to the next level” this workshop empowers clinicians to expand their impact through advocacy and care.
This workshop is a special presentation offered at a reduced rate to support psychologists navigating evolving practice demands, fostering connection within the field, and equipping them with tools to build confidence in the face of change.
The presentation format includes panel discussion, interactive breakout groups for deeper discussions, and hands on practicum for skill development. 3 CEU’s are offered for licensed Psychologists.

Biographies of the Presenters:
Ritch Hall, Ph.D. is the President of the Cincinnati Association of Black Psychologists (Cincinnati ABPsi) and a Board Member of the Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology (CAPP) and the founder of Cincinnati Black Therapists. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and is the owner and founder of Psychworks Clinic, a private practice with offices in Cincinnati and Oxford, OH. His clinical approach is dialectical behavior therapy and motivational interviewing through a systems lens. Dr. Hall has experience working with a diverse spectrum of populations, from urban settings to Appalachians, upper income and lower SES clients. Clinical interests include Anxiety, phase of life issues, and black men’s mental health. He is a sought-after speaker and media contributor, frequently appearing on podcasts and as a guest expert for the Ask Dr. Hall segment on Cincinnati’s Local Channel 12’s Good Morning Cincinnati.
Susan C. Urmetz, Psy.D is the President of the Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology (CAPP) and a member of the OPA Insurance Committee. Dr. Urmetz graduated from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. She has maintained a full-time private practice for 34 years. Her clinical approach combines Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Trauma Informed Therapies. Clinical interests include, Trauma and PTSD, Anxiety and Depression and Life Adjustments.
Dustin McKee, Masters in Social Work Administration is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ohio Psychological Association. Dustin has led major initiatives to improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by mental illness, substance use disorders, poverty, and complex health conditions. He has successfully passed legislation, developed and secured support for major public policy reforms at the state and national levels, and has secured millions in funding from the Ohio General Assembly and Congress. Dustin has a BA in Psychology from Earlham College, an MS in Social work Administration from Ohio University, and certificates in leadership in Health and Human Services Management from Ohio State University and John Hopkins University.
Representative Rachel Baker, Ph.D., MSW is currently serving her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She is particularly interested in improving social determinants of health, increasing access to qualified healthcare, increasing support for mental health care, promoting preventive care and population health. Rep. Baker holds a master’s in social work from University of Michigan and a PhD in nursing from the University of Cincinnati. In her professional career she was a nurse researcher. She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented locally, nationally and internationally. Rep. Baker is on the Health, Finance, and Medicaid Committees.
