Sampling of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills

May 8, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$30.00 – $70.00

Date:   Monday, May 8th 2023

Speaker: Nikki Winchester, Psy.D., ABPP, DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™

Title: Sampling of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills

Program Description:

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the empirically-supported treatment developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD, ABPP, to treat clients with borderline personality disorder (BPD), emotion dysregulation, suicidality and self-harm, and/or interpersonal difficulties.  DBT is one of the most well-studied psychotherapies, with 60 RCTs demonstrating DBT’s effectiveness cross-culturally with a wide range of clinical populations, diagnoses, age groups, treatment settings, levels of care, and providers.  This presentation will provide an overview of the four DBT skills modules.  Participants will experientially engage in skills training so that they leave the presentation ready to teach one skill from each module.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1.   Articulate how the DBT skills are linked to the biosocial theory of borderline personality disorder/emotion dysregulation;
  2. List the four DBT skills modules and articulate the goals of each module; and
  3. Teach one skill from each module.
