Workshop Description:
This workshop is designed to discuss emerging and pertinent issues for Ohio psychologists. It will provide an overview of the current landscape of psychology in Ohio, and the work the Ohio Psychological Association is doing to advance the field within the state. This workshop will also provide current information on practice requirements and insurance issues. Updates will be given on new legislation, licensure for master’s level psychologists, the emergence of telehealth companies like Better Health and Talkspace, Psypact, Telepsychology, No Surprises Act, new reportion requirements, credentialing and payment solutions, what OPA is doing to advocate for Ohio psychologists, and how you can advocate for your practice.
*Representative Baker will be there to talk with us about her work and listen to our perspective on ways to improve mental healthcare for Ohioans.
Learning Objectives:
- How practitioners can join efforts to improve behavioral health access, quality, efficiency and fairness for psychologists in a challenging healthcare payer and provider environment.
- How small and independent practices can understand and navigate the changing landscape of the behavioral health market (e.g. emergence of telehealth therapy companies and the effect on small practices, licensure for Master’s level psychologists) while maintaining quality care.
- Discuss emerging issues such as PSYPACT (providing care across state lines), implications of the No Surprises Act, latest news about Telepsychology, and the new small business reporting requirements.
- Discuss strategies to successfully resolve insurance credentialing and payment problems, learning where to resolve insurance problems regardless of the type.
- Learn about OPA’s advocacy work and the positive changes being made to help psychological practices.
- Learn how and where to resolve insurance problems regardless of insurance type (i.e. who provides oversight, how to file a complaint), and how OPA can help.
